St Gennys parish

St Gennys is a beautiful coastal and rural parish surrounding Crackington Haven; the coastal haven which boasts a large sandy and rocky beach in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The population is approximately 800. The area attracts a number of tourists throughout the season; walking the coast path, surfing or simply enjoying a family holiday by the beautiful beach and cliffs of Crackington Haven and the North Coast of Cornwall. There are many holiday cottages in the area but also a high percentage of year-round residents with very active social groups including arts, music and drama as well as sports and clubs of every other sort. There are very good local facilities including a cliff-top tennis court, a beach-side surf life-saving club and a newly refurbished village hall called “Crackington Institute. There is also the Legion Hall, plus two shops, two pubs, two beach cafes and two churches:- Brockhill Methodist Chapel, in Higher Crackington and St Gennys Church, located in a stunning coastal situation in the hamlet of Churchtown.
