Notice Board

Rector leaving Week St Mary

The Rev Tony Windross has announced that he is leaving the Benefice of Week St Mary to take up a post in the Diocese of Chichester. Tony’s last Service with us will be on Sunday 18 February 2018.  The following announcement was made on Sunday 19th November 2017:-

Tony has been offered, and has accepted, the post of Interim Priest in Charge of St Nicolas, Pevensey, in Chichester Diocese. His last Sunday in Cornwall will be 18th February, with the licensing in Sussex on 13th March.

The church of St Nicolas is mainly 12th century, with a catholic liturgical style and fine musical tradition. There is an expectation that within the next three years, the parish will join with the adjoining one. The two parishes are of very different traditions, and a lot of work needs doing to prepare the ground – which is why the interim ministry post has been created. As it is a half-time appointment, there should be a lot more opportunity for reading and visiting family than at present!

In amongst the excitement of the fresh challenges that this new post will provide, Tony and Pat will be sad to leave behind some good friends, together with warm and faithful church communities.

27.11.16    Invitation to churches to apply to the Co-Op Community Fund:-

The Co-op Invites applications for Local Community Fund

The Fund is open to applications from small, locally based voluntary and community groups to support projects which benefit local communities around Co-op food stores and funeral homes across the UK or the Isle of Man.

The Fund is provided by the Co-op Group as part of a new membership scheme which gives a 5% reward to shoppers on their purchases of Co-op own-brand products and services, together with an additional 1% given to local causes of their choice. A share of the money generated from the sale of 5p carrier bags in local stores, as well as the profits from the range of reusable bags, will also contribute to the fund. Local Co-op members are invited to vote for a project that they wish to see offered a grant.

Applications will be accepted from registered charities, small charities registered with HMRC for tax, registered community amateur sports clubs, churches that are an 'excepted' charity and Scout or Guide groups can apply.

The deadline for applications is 16 December 2016. http://www.coop.co.uk/membership/local-community-fund/?utm_source=vanity&utm_medium=direct&utm_campaign=redirect
